Dr. Stephanie A. Kavanaugh grew up in southern New Jersey. She attended college and dental
school on the East Coast, receiving her Bachelor of Arts & Sciences degree in
Biology/Anthropology from the University of Delaware in 1976 and her DMD from the University of
Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 1983. Dr. Kavanaugh is proud to have been a member of
the OKU Dental Honor Society, Mathew Cryer Honor Society (in the top 10% of her class), and to have
received the Henry M. Goldman Award for Pathology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983.
After graduation, Dr. Kavanaugh moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington
Orthodontic Program. She received her Master of Science degree in Dentistry and Certificate in
Orthodontics in 1985, and she has been practicing orthodontics in Issaquah since 1986. Dr.
Kavanaugh is also involved in the related field of dental forensics.
Dr. Kavanaugh is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of
Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association and the WSDA's
Dental Identification Team, American Academy of Forensic Sciences, American Society of Forensic
Odontology, and the Seattle-King County Dental Society's Forensic Committee (for which she has been
a chairperson since 1997).
In her spare time, she and her husband, Bill, are
remodeling their home and training their two dogs, Sara and Izzy, in agility.
